WELCOME TO PAKHTUNKHWA FRUIT NURSERY FARM

Pakhtunkhwa Fruit Nursery Farm is the well-known nursery farm of Khyber Pakhtun Khwa province and Northern Region established by Mr. Gul Bostan in 1981, first as a small scale Nursery Farm but through continuous efforts and professional commitment it was upgraded to one of the biggest nursery farm in Malakand Division. This nursery farm is situated at a distance of ten kilometers from Saidu Sharif on main Madyan road; spreading over an area of 35 acres of land for the production of certified fruit and forest plants.

Our OBJECTIVES:
To produce quality fruit plants for temperate, tropical and subtropical climatic zones and soil conditions coupled with the production of a wide variety of forest and agroforestry plants.

Our VISION:
We envision, cultivable, barren, culturable waste lands, transformed into lush green fields of trees for better livelihoods and ecologically sound environments.

Our MISSION:
To produce, provide and replicate quality fruits plants, forest plants and other vital agriculture inputs at reasonable and affordable rates at the door step of the farmers.
To achieve the goal Mr. Gul Bostan and his devoted team worked very hard over the years due to which both the quality and quantity of the plants was enhanced.
The nursery moved on a much better track, when in 1993 a Swiss project “Project for Horticulture Promotion (PHP)” in collaboration with Agriculture Research Institute Swat launched its initiatives in the northern areas of KPK. PHP has a long journey of success covering more than a decade of its struggle for the establishment of sustainable horticulture industry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. During the second phase of project PHP (1990-93), it expanded its field contact with farming community and established a pilot application centers in Swat, Dir, Chitral and Malakand. This was the time when the nursery industry was blessed with new technologies and techniques for the better production of quality plants. During this phase of PHP the nursery entrepreneurs were organized in the shape of Association named United Nursery Growers Association Malakand. They used to meet every month, share their problems and new ideas with one another for even better innovations for horticulture promotion.
The hard work of Mr. Gul Bostan and his team opened a new chapter in the field of nursery growing. In 1999 Pakhtunkhwa nursery started to export plants to Europe (Holland). In the same year, the owner of this nursery signed an agreement with Dutch nurseryman Mr. Arie van Hoven and thus the regular window of export was opened. This was the export of fruit plants for the first time from Pakistan. Besides exporting quality plants to Holland, unique and improved rootstocks and plants were also imported to enrich and diversify the nurseries in KPK. The improved plants and rootstocks of Walnuts and Gala Apples (MM106, MM111 and MM 109) were imported and multiplied which revolutionized the nursery industry in the region. In 1999 Mr. Gul Bostan become the president of the association and did his job in an excellent manner. In 2001, the new office of the association was inaugurated by Mr. Keith H Morris, Horticultural advisor to PHP. In the same year officials of 52 different countries visited Pakhtunkhwa nursery through LEAD Pakistan. Now the nursery has got the reputation of producing high quality plants in large number and expanded the marketing of plants to Afghanistan, Kashmir and other parts of the country.
